A little bit about my story…

After fracturing both wrists at the same time during a high school basketball game, I was introduced to the insurance-based health care system at the impressionable age of 14.

The “treatment and rehabilitation” I received for this injury left me underwhelmed and disappointed, with one main take-away:

There Simply HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY…

This experienced served as my motivation and purpose to become someone who can help others and be the health care professional I needed when I was 14.

My journey started shortly after, joining a rigorous high school Sports Medicine program at the age of 16. The program fed my passion for the human body and it’s amazing capabilities. I continued along this path in the Athletic Training Program at Santa Barbara City College, working with their football, volleyball, basketball, and other teams. This further confirmed my love and dedication to the craft, so I chose to seek out education and experience at the highest level, the #1 program in the nation at The Ohio State University. Accepted into the program as it’s first ever direct transfer admit, I moved to Columbus, OH to become the best Athletic Trainer I could be. After 3 years and multiple clinical rotations working with OSU’s football; men’s lacrosse; men’s ice hockey; track and field and cross country teams; and local Dublin Jerome high school; I received my B.S. Athletic Training and passed my board certification exam to officially become a Certified Athletic Trainer.

A freshly minted ATC, I chose to return to my home state of California to work for Bellarmine College Preparatory, a Jesuit, all-boys private school in the Silicon Valley. Although my experience was amazing and I truly loved working for the Bellarmine Bells, I decided to move into the private practice space in order to grow my clinical and performance skills and apply them to a greater variety of people, not just high school or college-aged athletes. This decision led me to Diablo Sports Performance, a private training service within a physical therapy clinic.

Through treating and training people of all different ages & levels of athleticism gave me an invaluable experience and allowed me to create an impact on the bodies and minds of a more expansive population, beyond just high school and collegiate athletes.

After moving down to Los Angeles, I chose to begin my own practice: HK Athletic Training. It is my channel to reach the good people of planet earth and help create positive change in their lives.
